LIVERMORE, Calif. -- Alloptic, Inc., a pioneer in the development and deployment of Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (GEPONs), the ultimate communications network for today and tomorrow, announces the availability of the Edge 200, an environmentally hardened EPON Chassis capable of delivering voice, data, and video services to homes, businesses, and multi-dwelling units.

Alloptic’s Edge product family consists of carrier-class core aggregation devices that make delivering broadband services over a fiber access network affordable and efficient. The Edge 200 connects the fiber access network to the core communications network to deliver data, IP video, RF video, VoIP and TDM voice services. The Edge 200 is designed to support all of Alloptic’s Optical Network Terminal’s (ONTs), thus providing flexibility to serve from 64 to 500 subscribers from a single device.

“The Edge 200 fundamentally changes the economics for delivering broadband services,” said Mike Serrano, Director of Product Marketing for Alloptic. “The small, stackable design makes the 200 an ideal choice for serving smaller or remote areas. The hardened nature of the 200 eliminates the need for expensive huts or environmentally conditioned vaults.”

Alloptic is an industry leader in the development and deployment of IEEE Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON) technology. Alloptic’s access network solution has been deployed around the world and offers the only GEPON solution with several years of field proven, operational history. Alloptic’s Passive Optical Network (PON) technology delivers a gigabit of bandwidth over a single fiber supporting up to 32 Optical Network Units (ONUs) at a distance up to 20km. With a native ability to support traditional TDM voice over an Ethernet based platform, Alloptic is able to provide today’s worry free telephone services while seamlessly supporting next generation services such as IP HDTV.
