NEW ORLEANS -- BroadSoft®, Inc., the leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced at CTIA Wireless the immediate availability of its innovative new BroadWorks® Mobile PBX application. The new application is a carrier-class product that allows mobile operators to offer rich network-based voice and multimedia services to mobile handsets.

BroadWorks Mobile PBX was designed to bridge the current gap between the advanced voice and multimedia features available on landline phones in the enterprise versus the limited range of enterprise features on mobile phones. Now, end-users gain the best of both worlds by unifying the benefits of mobility with next-generation enterprise PBX features. BroadSoft’s Mobile PBX application is currently operationally deployed in trials with incumbent carriers in multiple regions around the world.

For mobile operators, this expanded portfolio of services creates new opportunities for increased revenues from enterprise sales that can significantly enhance average revenue per user (ARPU). Mobile operators using BroadSoft’s Mobile PBX application platform can expand their portfolio of marketable services well beyond basic push-to-talk features. These new features include auto attendant, click-to-dial, hunt groups, call center functionality, mobile extension dialing, video telephony, instant messaging and other innovative capabilities. Additional enterprise benefits include enhanced distributed workforce productivity, a web-based interface to easily manage and provision users, reduced total cost of ownership, and flexible migration possibilities.

Through its IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture compliance (see today’s related release - BroadSoft Announces First Available IMS-Compliant VoIP Application Platform), BroadSoft enables carriers to host and deliver enhanced features over mobile, fixed, or converged networks. IMS reduces the risks of launching new services by spreading returns and customer acquisition costs across both wireless and fixed-line customer bases.

“BroadSoft’s Mobile PBX application, coupled with our pioneering IMS position, is a natural extension of our leadership position in the wireline market,” said Michael Tessler, chief executive officer of BroadSoft. “For the first time, mobile operators can unify the delivery of next-generation applications and align enterprise users more closely with workflow and business processes.”
