ILKLEY, U.K. -- Mission-critical communications specialist Sarian Systemstoday announced that it has been awarded a contract with Fujitsu Servicesworth almost five million UK pounds to provide its new combinedwired/wireless routers for UK business continuity deployments. The deal, which includes a significant government infrastructure project in the UK,will see Sarian provide Fujitsu with 12,000 DR6410 routers - part of itsrecently launched 6000 Series, which offer ADSL broadband provision andmonitoring with high-speed mobile backup.

With more and more organisations now using broadband for all criticalcommunications, it is vital that companies such as Fujitsu are able toprovide end-users with reliable business continuity solutions, safeguardingday-to-day operations in the event of fixed line failure. Fujitsu thereforerequired a product that would not only offer high-speed broadband servicedelivery and support future ADSL updates, but that would also provide aviable, cost-effective backup option, should any problems occur.

Sarian's DR6410 has the ability to automatically detect broadband serviceissues and seamlessly switch over to HSDPA or 3G networks in the event of afailure. This ensures that end-users' communications services continueuninterrupted, while the speed and latency of HSDPA mean that there is nonoticeable impact on quality of service. Furthermore, the DR6410 containsdual SIM card slots, giving end users the ability to use two independentmobile networks as backup, providing additional peace of mind.

"Sarian fought off the stiff competition for this contract thanks to theflexibility and reliability of the DR6410," said Tim Carter, contractsmanager at Fujitsu. "Thanks to Sarian, we can now provide our end-userswith multiple primary and backup options for service delivery, leaving themsafe in the knowledge that their business-critical communications will notbe compromised by network downtime."

"HSDPA for the first time offers a genuine mobile alternative to fixed linebroadband, and it's great to see companies like Fujitsu harnessing thispotential in order to solve business continuity issues for organisationsnationwide," said Andy Hood, managing director at Sarian. "Having been oneof the first companies to develop a product designed for enterprise use ofHSDPA, the major rollouts we're now witnessing add strength to ourconviction that HSDPA is best-placed to win the battle of the emergingwireless technologies."
