Adtran Picks Infineon's ADSL 2+ Chipset

MUNICH and CHICAGO -- Infineon Technologies AG (FSE/NYSE: IFX) today announced that its GEMINAX MAX™ and ConverGate™ chipsets have been selected by ADTRAN, one of the top three DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) equipment vendors in North America, for use in its Total Access™ series of DSLAM (DSL Access Multiplexer) products. ADTRAN’s ADSL2+ (Asymmetric DSL2+) products are widely deployed by the eight leading service providers in North America. Infineon’s GEMINAX MAX and ConverGate chipsets enable service providers to offer consumers higher ADSL2+ data rates of up to 24 Mbit/s compared to current solutions. With ADSL2+, a conventional telephone connection is sufficient to surf the Internet, receive multiple television channels and place a traditional or VoIP telephone call - all at the same time.
