After studying physics and working for several years in software design, Enrique Blanco joined Telefónica as 1985, assuming different responsibilities in the area of digital switching. He subsequently held different roles and positions such as director of Madrid, director of local operations, director of operations and director of network operations and engineering. He was appointed Global Chief Technology Officer of Telefónica SA in 2011 and in 2017 he became Global Chief Technology and Information Officer. His current job title is Chief Technology and Information Officer, with responsibility across the entire group. He has been a member of the Executive Committee of Telefónica since November 2019. Enrique has received several international awards, including CTO of the year in 2014 from Mobile Europe and CTO of the year in 2019 at the World Communications Awards.
