QUINCY, Mass. -- Atlantic Broadband, the nation's 13th largest cable operator, today announced that customers with TiVo service can now stream live TV and recorded shows on Android phones and tablets at home by downloading the TiVo Android App update. The updated app gives users full control of their television experience right from their mobile device, including allowing them to easily find their favorite shows, program their DVRs and manage their recordings. Atlantic Broadband launched a similar app for iOS devices in November 2013.

The TiVo App for Android devices is free and can be found in the Google Play Store. The app update is compatible with phones and tablets that are running on Android’s operating system v4.1 or above.

Features of the app include:

  • Viewing options – users can stream live TV or recordings directly on their tablet or smartphone while inside their home. If you are watching content on your Android device and want to switch to your TV, a simple tap on the app will switch the stream from the mobile device to the big screen.

    • Schedule – allows easy scheduling of recordings directly from the device at home or on-the-go.

    • Get more from your shows and movies – users can explore cast and crew and other recommendations of their favorite shows without interrupting the big screen experience.

    • Search – powerful and fast search functions for TV shows, movies, actors or directors.

    • Gesture-based controls – users can now take complete control of all recordings, even move forward and backward through a show with a simple tap or swipe from the device.

    • Program guide – supports browsing a full-screen TV program guide without interrupting TV viewing.
