Ericsson Bites EDGE Deal

Ericsson has signed a sole supplier contract with Lithuanian mobile operator Bite GSM for implementation of an EDGE network

STOCKHOLM -- This contract is the first announced commercial contract in Central and Eastern Europe for Ericsson's EDGE solution. Ericsson will supply all necessary EDGE network infrastructure including the upgrade of the existing core network and supply of radio access infrastructure. Deliveries will begin immediately.

The equipment will enable Bite GSM to offer its customers an even wider range of high-quality mobile data services already this year. This will be one of the first EDGE services in Europe.

"Our homogeneous mobile network is developed entirely on the basis of Ericsson equipment. It helps us to offer new solutions for our customers, saving considerable time and work resources".
