LAS VEGAS -- MaxLinear Inc. (NYSE: MXL), a leading provider of integrated radio frequency (RF) and mixed-signal integrated circuits for broadband communications applications, today announced that Silicondust USA Inc. (SiliconDust), a leading technology company that develops network-attached digital TV devices, has selected the MxL603 global TV tuner for use in its latest generation of ATSC and DVB-T2 HDHomeRun® products. The HDHomeRun enables consumers to receive live broadcast television and stream it to any device in the home. Through the use of standard Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) technologies, streams are available to numerous hardware and software platforms, ranging from desktop PCs to tablets, smartphones, and smart TVs. The new generation of HDHomeRun products features real-time hardware conversion of video to streaming-friendly H.264 format, enabling devices with limited processing power to play back high-quality video without the need for a PC to perform the conversion. “The MaxLinear MxL603 tuner was an ideal choice for our HDHomeRun Gen 4 product line,” said Nick Kelsey, CTO of SiliconDust. “The low power, small footprint and excellent RF performance of the MaxLinear tuner allowed us to keep a small form factor while increasing the functionality and performance of the new product line.”MaxLinear Corp.
