Genband Axes Its President of Global Sales
CMO Patrick Joggerst will serve as President of Global Sales & Marketing in an effort to better align the company's sales and marketing organizations, the company says.
Genband's president of global sales Mark Pugerude has been let go as the company plans to merge its sales and marketing organizations under CMO Patrick Joggerst.
Pugerude, who has been with Genband Inc. since August 2007, officially left Wednesday, the company confirmed to Light Reading. Genband SVP of Marketing Communications Bita Milanian says, "the executive team made the decision to combine the sales and marketing leadership role to ensure that the two organizations are completely aligned and to better serve our customers. Patrick [Joggerst] will be serving as the President of Global Sales & Marketing."

Joggerst joined Genband in April 2015 as executive vice president and chief marketing officer, shortly after former CMO Brad Bush left. Pugerude's departure is the latest in a string of executive exits that began when former CEO Charlie Vogt left the company in July 2013 to take the top job at Harris Broadcast, taking a number of top executives with him. Under CEO David Walsh, Genband is working hard to position itself as both the telco's best partner as they transform their networks to the New IP, and its go-to platform-as-a-service (PaaS) provider for the future of communications. More than anything, it's also still trying to shake off its image as a legacy TDM equipment provider. (See A Tale of 2 Genbands.)
It's been an often confusing story, but the company has spent the last two years unifying its own product lines -- and messaging -- to best serve a changing market. Integrating its sales and marketing teams seems to be another step in that direction.
