KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Wavelink Corporation, a leading provider of mobile infrastructure management software for the enterprise, today introduced Wavelink Managed Security, the industry's first integrated system for wireless LAN management and protection. Wavelink Managed Security cuts through the complexity of wireless LAN security, delivering centralized control for all policies, infrastructure and mobile devices.

"Organizations deploying mobile solutions are beginning to recognize the critical nature of managing and securing mobile devices and wireless LAN networks," said Stephen Drake, program manager for IDC's Mobile Software service. "Successful suppliers who can deliver an integrated offering to address this combined functionality serve the growing demands of customers deploying mobile solutions."

Wavelink Managed Security enables organizations to plan, deploy, secure, monitor and maintain the entire wireless system--from networks to mobile devices. Wavelink Managed Security preserves and safeguards existing infrastructure and can easily adapt to growing business demands. The solution incorporates security for legacy 802.11 and newer WPA-compliant infrastructures in a single architecture, while supporting a wide range of mobile devices, including industrial terminals, PDAs and laptops. The solution provides access and authentication for all 802.1X-enabled environments, allowing enterprises to centrally deploy WPA client software and WPA policies to vast infrastructures, across multiple sites, without having to physically touch client devices. Managed Security also supports all major authentication techniques, including TLS, TTLS and PEAP and easily integrates with existing Active Directory and LDAP directory systems.

With a consolidated view and central control of the network, Managed Security also provides visibility to a wide range of wireless security vulnerabilities and performance issues including intrusions, rogue access points, policy mismatches and denial of service attacks.

"Mobility is critical to our business success, but we were challenged to find a way to integrate the key solutions required to manage and protect our wireless network which has a combination of legacy and newer equipment," said Steve Broadhead, business applications development supervisor for RC Willey Home Furnishings. "Managed Security solved the complexities of our wireless deployment, incorporating all our system components. The solution allows us to proactively set policies and manage and secure our entire system from one central location."
