CMP Launches Dark Reading

CMP Media LLC , the wise and benevolent parent of Light Reading, and Heavy Reading, today launched Dark Reading, an online publication dedicated solely to covering enterprise security.

Dark Reading is the one-stop security portal for IT professionals who need timely information that's presented in a way that makes it easy for them to get what they want when seconds count, but also allows them to dig as deep as they want on a topic when they have the time.

“We know IT security professionals can’t camp out on the Web all day, combing for virus alerts and other warnings that affect everything from email to e-commerce servers, proprietary databases, and thousands of desktops,” says Terry Sweeney, editor in chief of Dark Reading. “That’s why we designed the site to give security professionals all the alerts, news, information, and tools they need in an easy-to-use format, whether they have an enterprise emergency or need to do some comparison-shopping for new firewalls, for example.” [Ed. note: Okay, Terry. Deep breath. Calm down.]

Along with original Dark Reading news stories, the site will feature the best security-related news from the entire network of CMP sites, as well as some "Best-of-the-Web" content. The site will also include bug alerts, a threat barometer, case studies, product reviews, and much, much more. What's more, the site will replace www.securitypipeline.com and www.secureenterprisemag.com, which will both now point to www.darkreading.com.

Sweeney and site editor Tim Wilson have more than 30 years of combined experience covering the enterprise and networking space, including evaluating security products and services. Seriously, they're quite old. And joining them is a roster of impressive columnists and bloggers -- including Joe Hernick, Gary McGraw, Steve Stasiukonis, Rob Enderle, Richard Stiennon, and Geoff Bennett. With that motley crew in tow, Dark Reading will quickly set itself apart as having an unmatched breadth and depth of comprehensive analysis and commentary.

More than ever before, enterprise IT and network security professionals are challenged to see and master myriads of threats facing their organizations today. Indeed, security may well be the single largest challenge in most industry sectors today. And to meet that challenge head-on requires a new kind of publication: Dark Reading is it.

Check out Dark Reading today, and let them know what you think by sending a note to [email protected].
