LEXINGTON, Mass. -- Arbor Networks®, a leader in network security, today announced that global Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have begun using Arbor's Peakflow® SP security technology to provide security services to their enterprise customers. ISPs such as Cable & Wireless plc, SAVVIS, Belgacom and Hydro One are offering new value-added security services to ensure enterprises receive bandwidth that is free of flooding denial of service (DoS) attacks.

Enterprises are increasingly demanding "clean bandwidth" from their service providers in response to the growing number of distributed and targeted denial of service (DoS) cyber attacks that disrupt corporate networks and business continuity. Beginning in 2004, increased DoS attacks and targeted extortion attempts heightened interest and desire for preventative security measures that would provide guaranteed levels of network availability, according to the Gartner, Inc. report "Hype Cycle for Infrastructure Protection, 2005."

In response, service providers are turning to network-based DoS-prevention and Quality of Service (QoS) offerings using Arbor Peakflow SP to better protect their enterprise customers. Services include security alerting and notification of potential real-time attacks from viruses, worms and DDoS attacks as well as include identification and mitigation techniques within the network backbone.
