Metromedia to Deploy Juniper Routers

MFN's worldwide optical IP network to benefit from increased speeds and enhanced security of Juniper's M160 routers

NEW YORK -- Metromedia Fiber Network Inc. (MFN) (Nasdaq:MFNX) and Juniper Network Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR) have announced the purchase and deployment of 170 Juniper Networks M160 Internet backbone routers by MFN. MFN is presently deploying the M160(TM) routers throughout its worldwide optical IP network, including all Internet Service Exchange (ISX) facilities, as part of a global OC-192c (10 gigabits/second) backbone network deployment. "We are always looking for breakthrough infrastructure technology to ensure that our IP network is the most robust, secure and reliable in the world," said Nick Tanzi, president and chief operating officer of Metromedia Fiber Network. "Our purchase of the M160 routers represents a valuable addition to our suite of defenses against attacks on our network.
