Recovery Act: Tracking the Stimulus

With "nearly" $28 billion in bids put in for broadband stimulus money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), it is quite clear that many companies, operators, and tech groups have applied for grants or loans. (See Recovery Act: Round One Brings 'Nearly $28B' in Bids.)

Unstrung's stimulus index is tracking these bids. So far we know of 19 operators or tech organizations that have applied:

With nearly 2,200 bids in, this list is by no means complete yet. Ninety percent of our data comes from announcements by the operators or groups themselves. Even though all applications for the first round of the broadband stimulus effort have to have been completed by now, organizations are still coming forward with new announcements of bids. (See Recovery Act: Round One Brings 'Nearly $28B' in Bids.)

In the coming weeks, the government is expected to post a database of all the separate bids. Winners of the funds will be announced by September at the earliest.

Please note that we aren't including bids from cities and states, libraries, and educational authorities in this table. We may create a separate table -- or tables -- for these applicants when those bids become public.

We invite readers to send in any updates. If they're applicable, we'll add them to the table. Please send email updates to [email protected].
