Infinera Appoints Asia VP

SINGAPORE -- Infinera has appointed Simon Naylor as Vice President for Asia Pacific to lead its next wave of growth and expansion in the region.

Infinera's Digital Optical Networks architecture has gained rapid market acceptance as carriers and service providers have embraced Infinera's fully reconfigurable DTN platform and the superior features and economics it is designed to provide. Infinera has 20 customers running live traffic worldwide, including many of the world's largest Internet networks. Infinera's customers include long-haul, regional and metro core networks in North America, Europe, and Asia.

To broaden its global reach, Infinera has appointed Simon Naylor to build and manage Infinera's presence in the Asia Pacific region. With rapidly rising economic prosperity, and state-of-the-art access networks being deployed in many nations, Asia-Pacific has become an important growth opportunity for core and metro optical networks. According to analyst firm the Dell'Oro Group, optical transport revenue in the Asia-Pacific region grew 19% last year to reach $2.42 billion.

Mr. Naylor brings to Infinera broad international experience of the technology industry. From 2000 until recently, he was VP of Asia Pacific/Japan for Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a pioneer in the carrier class voice-over-IP market. Prior to that, he served as VP Asia Pacific for leading security and encryption software company RSA Security, which was acquired by storage vendor EMC (NYSE: EMC) earlier this month.
