Euronews: ZTE Wins Euro DWDM Deal

Chinese giant ZTE continues its push into Europe with the award of a contract to build a Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) metro network for Portugal Telecom, covering both the mainland of Portugal and its islands. Shares in Telefónica fell 0.8 percent this morning on the news that the Spain-based operator is to cut its dividend by 14 percent, reports Reuters. The U.K.'s three largest mobile operators, namely EE , Vodafone UK and Telefónica UK Ltd. (O2), are holding "informal" talks with smaller rival Three UK about letting it join the mobile money platform project they have been cooking up together, according to the Financial Times (subscription required). 3 had been less than happy at being left out in the cold. A couple of sips of Orange now: In its native France, the mobile giant has teamed up with Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) to offer Orange TV on the Xbox 360 gaming console, while in the former Soviet Republic of Moldova, Orange has chosen Tellabs Inc. (Nasdaq: TLAB; Frankfurt: BTLA)'s 8609 switch to meet its 3G backhaul needs. Nordic mobile operator Telenor Group (Nasdaq: TELN) has chosen Mobilethink A.S. 's device management system (DMS) for its operations in Norway and Denmark.
