As revealed exclusively by Light Reading on February 21, Lucent has bagged a deal with the U.S. Defense Department, worth up to $94 million, to build a DWDM network in Europe. (See Lucent Lands Defense DWDM Deal.)

Telekomunikacja Polska SA has expanded its frame agreement with Lucent for the supply of Stinger DSLAMs, integration and support services, and various voice system upgrades. The new extension is worth $36 million.

T-Com , the German national business unit of Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT), has signed a two-year extension to its standing SDH and DWDM arrangement with Lucent.

KazakhTelecom , the national carrier in Kazakhstan, is sourcing Juniper routers from Lucent for a new IP network in the country's capital, Astana, which will be managed from a new network operations center supplied by Lucent. Winncom Technologies , which is supplying Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) gear to KazakhTelecom, is the local integration partner. T-Systems International GmbH , the business services division of German incumbent Deutsche Telekom is upgrading its international MPLS network, with Lucent supplying maintenance and support services along with M320 routers from partner Juniper Networks Inc. (NYSE: JNPR). The deployment covers Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the U.K., and the U.S.

Russian CDMA wireless operator Sky Link is expanding its CDMA2000 EVDO network into 10 new regions with Lucent gear and support, while another Russian mobile operator, MegaFon , is using a billing system based on the CAMEL (Customized Applications for Mobile network Enhanced Logic) protocol, supplied by Lucent, to add real-time charging capabilities to its back-office systems.
