The 16-day Asian Games in Hangzhou concluded on October 8, 2023, creating some of the most incredible and unforgettable moments. The event showcased the talent of athletes from across Asia and highlighted China's innovative prowess. China Mobile, one of the official prestige partners of the Hangzhou Asian Games, played a significant role in ensuring the event's success by guaranteeing network quality through its 5G networks.

To support Hangzhou's aim of hosting an intelligent Asian Games, China Mobile introduced the digital twin technology, which dynamically simulated network situation changes and generated emergency plans. This innovative solution, along with IntelligentRAN, helped energize the multi-sports event. China Mobile also worked to detect and respond to network emergencies in real-time and configured intelligent key event assurance for each stadium, ensuring seamless communication throughout the event.

Stadiums capable of learning

China Mobile Hangzhou played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Sports Center's main stadium by providing intelligent key event assurance. With over 100,000 people expected to attend these events, the company took proactive measures to ensure smooth Internet access for all attendees.

To achieve this, China Mobile Hangzhou drew on its experience with large-scale events, such as concerts held in Hangzhou, and leveraged digital twin technology to predict network traffic during peak hours. This technology allowed the company to anticipate changes in network conditions as athletes and audience members entered and exited the stadium, and all seats were occupied.

Using this technology, China Mobile Hangzhou detected and eliminated 16 potential risks to network devices, with more than 95% of these risks proving to be genuine issues. This proactive approach ensured that the stadium was more intelligent and that attendees could enjoy uninterrupted Internet access throughout the events.

By leveraging this technology, the inspection time was reduced from 30 minutes to just 10 minutes. During the inspection, all devices were thoroughly checked, and 95% of device issues were identified. The use of indoor environment positioning technology enabled mobile phones to automatically search for hidden devices, improving device troubleshooting efficiency by 50% and further enhancing network stability and reliability.
