SAN FRANCISCO -- Nexmo, a leading cloud communication API company, today announced a strategic partnership with Telefónica O2, a leading digital communications company. Under the new partnership, Nexmo will become one of Telefónica’s top 10 SMS partners, and enables Nexmo to further enhance quality of delivery for enterprise customers when delivering mission-critical, application-to-person (A2P) messaging.

Experiencing explosive growth, A2P communication is used by financial institutions, airlines, travel reservation sites, social networks, and many other industries to send critical messages from companies to their customers.

O2 is the commercial brand of Telefónica UK Limited with over 23 million customers. It runs 2G, 3G and 4G networks across the United Kingdom, as well as operating O2 Wifi, and is co-owner of Tesco Mobile.

As part of the agreement, Nexmo’s cloud communication offerings will also utilize high-quality message termination services for A2P traffic to O2 subscribers in the UK, as well as to Telefónica subscribers in additional European countries.

A CSP's digital transformation involves so much more than technology. Crucial – and often most challenging – is the cultural transformation that goes along with it. As Sigma's Chief Technology Officer, Catherine Michel has extensive experience with technology as she leads the company's entire product portfolio and strategy. But she's also no stranger to merging technology and culture, having taken a company — Tribold — from inception to acquisition (by Sigma in 2013), and she continues to advise service providers on how to drive their own transformations. This impressive female leader and vocal advocate for other women in the industry will join Women in Comms for a live radio show to discuss all things digital transformation, including the cultural transformation that goes along with it.
