More 'High-Speed 2go'
10:25 AM Comcast rolling out WiMax in Chicago and Philly later this year
10:25 AM -- We'll have more updates on Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK)'s advances with Docsis 3.0 (it just set a bigger network deployment goal for 2009) and the all-digital "Project Cavalry" effort later today, but for now, we'll just pass along a quick note on its mobile WiMax plans. On this morning's earnings call, the company revealed that it will launch "High-Speed 2go" -- the brand name for the WiMax service it's reselling through its partnership with Clearwire LLC (Nasdaq: CLWR) -- in Chicago and Philadelphia later this year. (See Cable Plays Clearwire Card and Comcast Posts Q2.) Those, of course, will follow the initial launches in Portland, Ore., and Atlanta, and continue to track along with Clearwire's buildout. (See Comcast's All Clear in Atlanta and Comcast Maxes Out in Portland.) With all that underway (and on the way), Comcast is now declaring that it has reached the "execution phase" of its wireless strategy. — Jeff Baumgartner, Site Editor, Cable Digital News
