Intel 's LTE Bonus

1:05 PM -- Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) is set to get a bit more Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology from its $1.4 billion acquisition of Infineon Technologies AG (NYSE/Frankfurt: IFX)'s wireless solutions business than when the deal was announced in August. That's because the Infineon wireless business, which is in the process of being acquired by Intel, has bought German LTE technology specialist Blue Wonder Communications GmbH for an undisclosed sum, which was reported by EE Times and confirmed to Light Reading Mobile by spokespeople from both companies.

Infineon has been working with Blue Wonder for about 18 months on developing baseband technologies for LTE, according to the Infineon spokesman. Blue Wonder, which is based in Dresden, Germany, and has 50 employees, has LTE intellectual property and systems solutions for embedded modem technologies.
