The positive review I see on this site for Reliance JIO is same as for faux products on Amazon or Flipkart.

Only innovation in JIO is how to bill more, deliver less and under report revenue & taxes.

Well Done Jio...
A very insightful interview, and an amazing glimpse into the heart of how Jio made it possible. Agree with the overall view on the Open projects as well, there is need for consolidation & unification so that service providers have a clear vision to adopt specific open technologies. 

The advantage that Jio has is that it is an unadulterated 4G network without any legacy of 2G/3G circuit networks - meaning better speeds, less latency and superior grade of services. Momentum is with Jio, all the best!

Congratulations Jio
Very interesting conversation, definintely interesting story of what is happening in India and amazing impact that Jio is having in both India and also what looks to be impacting the industry as a whole. Jio took some big bets delivering all services over a 4G/all IP network - which has never been done before. Their choice to launch voice over VOLTE was incredible big. Hopefully people appreciate what it takes to sign up 100(M)  customers and provide service in less than 6 months - having spent some time in India and understanding the logistics of what it takes to set up a new network and customer sign up - also having worked at a US telecom operator for a whiile, the scale of systems and network to support that in a short period of time is pretty dang crazy scale.

I'll definitely be watching with keen interest what Jio does going forward in continuing to disrupt the Indian market and seeing what impact this has on the overall global telecom market.

For the haters, if you are one of the operators that did not do anything - ofcourse you are worried and angry.

What matters to me, my family and friends is Great Speed and inexpensive prices...Go Jio!

Game Changing Telecom Revolution
A few of the comments here are quite negative, though everyone has a right to have an opinion. Anyways, it is the way of the world now a days and it is far easy to criticise than actually execute positive things on the ground and make a meaniful impact.

Now, let me focus on the real positives that the innovation of Jio has had:

1. As to the question of what this innovation has brought into the foray is that each and every Indian has access to world-class 4G connectivity and content. Jio's is presently the world's fastest growing 4G mobile network and one which transcends the barriers of income & wealth of an individual. 


2. I personally know of several local vegetable vendors, keerana owners and taxi-wala's who are really happy with the power that has been handed over to them by Jio. The smile on their faces is enough to conclude that something positive has happened.

3. Coming to what Jio as company has done, and these are actual onground numbers. Jio directly employs more than 10,000 folks and indirectly employs another 100,000. Creating an eco-system which is as huge as Jio is no mean feat. It takes the sweat and toil of each and every individual who has worked towards Jio's success. 

4. More importantly, the ability to have instant access to knowledge portals which was out of the reach of majority of folks earlier due to extremely high costs of 3G does not exist anymore. 65% of India's population is below the age of 35 years, imagine the kind of positive impact (via education, access to online universities, pursing courses etc.) that the Jio ecosystem will have. 

5. For the launch of any service and especially a green field project like Jio with an objective to cover a huge country like India there will be obstacles no doubt about it. To provide high quality of services you need to test the system, fine tune it, crease out its problems and for the same you need active subscribers on the network. With the initial Welcome offer which was free, it gave a chance for the end-users to experience what they have been missing for all these years. And more significantly a chance for Jio to resolve the issues, reduce call-drops, intermimttent outages etc.

6. The 100+ million subcribers will start paying Jio for its services next month onwards. Me and many of my friends have opted for the Jio Prime offer, simply for the fact that Jio gives me unlimited data, voice and access to rich content at high-quality but at affordable costs. 

You can either see the glass half full or half empty, I am an optimist and I see a ton more positives than negatives. I hope Jio does well, India is a huge market so there will be space for multiple players. Also, in the end a consumer like me is to benefit!!

Innovation really?
Reliance tearing the rule book is not uncommon. Its a manuplative company known for unfair practice.

In India if Facebook was not allowed to launch Zero Internet plan, how is JIO allowed to launch free plans for almost one year. They much have managed TRAI, DOT, Press and Ministers. Beside it is a unfair trade practice.

Even if they got millions subscriber, whats innovative about it. India is 1.2 billion people, throw something for free, you will get millions after you to get it. Beside trademark habits of Indian to negotiate and wish for freebies. 

Can the author list 1 innovation done by Reliance employee. It is not capable of doing any innovation, with their money they can buy innovation. its only by money & manuplation they are able to get market share.

To run intellect driven business, you need innovative & thinking mind who are empowered to take risk and make decision. Who in JIO is empowered...only friends and family....innovation is not breed nepotism, exploitation, money, ego and bad mouth. 

An successful entrapreneur is identified by thinking big and benefiting full echo system. Where as JIO mean Ambani jio and baki saab maro (JIO - long live the family rest perish)
