WASHINGTON -- The Distributed Computing Industry Association (www.DCIA.info), a trade organization with more than one-hundred Member companies representing peer-to-peer (P2P) and social networking software providers, content rights holders, Internet service providers (ISPs) and service-and-support companies, today announced next steps in a new P2P Best Practices initiative to be advanced at its upcoming P2P MEDIA SUMMIT LA (www.dcia.info/activities/p2pmsla2008) on Monday May 5th at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

"The overriding goal of the P2P Best Practices initiative will be to establish widely accepted business practices for safe and efficient use of P2P services," said DCIA CEO Marty Lafferty in making the announcement. "This effort will supersede the previously announced proposal to develop a 'P2P Bill of Rights & Responsibilities (BRR)' and broaden the scope of this endeavor," he added.
