LONDON -- Incatel, the provider of convergent network inventory solutions, today announced the release of the latest version of its flagship product NIMS. This release includes support for fibre-to-the-home technology, as well as a wealth of new features for mobile network planning, convergent network provisioning and data reconciliation.

Incatel’s NIMS is a convergent inventory solution for access and transport networks, at the logical and physical levels, for both fixed and mobile operators. The latest release of NIMS is designed to meet the needs of the growing number of operators who are now deploying fibre-to-the-home (FTTH), for example to support triple-play services. Such deployments increasingly use outside plant technologies such as micro-fibres and flexible pipes, which have their own special characteristics and requirements.

In keeping with recent releases, the new version of NIMS also includes a number of mobile-specific features including: increased support for the modelling of radio repeaters; mobile specific searching capabilities; and improved display of antennas on maps.

In addition, this new release of NIMS also includes optimisations to the routing algorithms (access and transport, as well as multi-level routing), which are used in provisioning of networks and services. The release also offers improved reconciliation functionality to allow external data about network resources, such as equipment, circuits or cables, to be merged or updated into NIMS.

Jan-Olav Knutsen, VP of product management for Incatel, says: “NIMS is one of the few inventory solutions, which from the beginning has addressed the demands of physical and logical networks within the same product, rather than through integration of separate systems. As operators are beginning to deploy next generation networks and services, we are seeing a growing need for that seamless link between outside plant and the logical layers. The latest release of NIMS consolidates the convergent nature of our flagship product."
