HICKORY, N.C. -- Corning Cable Systems, an industry-leading manufacturer of fiber optic and copper communications network infrastructure solutions, introduces its Versatile Access Pedestal, a future-proof plastic pedestal designed to support multiple legacy network platforms, including a migration path supporting FTTx applications.

An Evolant™ Solutions product, the Versatile Access Pedestal is a flame, impact and UV-resistant housing designed to provide mounting facilities and security for copper or fiber optic cable splicing and termination in a buried-plant environment. The “bell jar” cover design provides 360 degree access when removed and prevents water submersion of internal components during flood conditions.

The Versatile Access Pedestal is non-metallic and will not bend or dent like equivalent metal pedestals. It is factory assembled with lock and stake and arrives ready to install. All hardware and bracketry options are constructed of non-corrosive aluminum or plastic, and integral stake and extra long integral stake options are available for additional stability.

The Corning Cable Systems Versatile Access Pedestal offers a high degree of interchangeability with previously deployed cylindrical pedestals. It supports traditional pedestal applications, while also being able to support multiple network platforms. The Pedestal is designed to meet today’s requirements, while also providing a future-proof solution for tomorrow’s applications.
