AirTies
Air 4610/1 and Air 4640/1
These wireless video access points (APs) are designed to give clear and simple user feedback via two LED lights that indicate whether or not the product is connected and HD video is streaming. Offering a choice of Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet connections, the 802.11n wireless APs enable IP gateways to be wirelessly connected to set-top boxes or connected TVs. They also enable IP gateways to act as wireless repeaters so that additional TVs, PCs, iPads or gaming devices can be connected to a wireless network and used to stream multiple HD video channels around the home, without pixilation or interference. They feature remote management software compliant with TR-111 and TR-069 standards. Even greater range can be achieved by using the company's AirTouch technology, which allows customers to self-install a mesh network in the home, including handling all network security and SSID settings.

10 and Air 7310
The HD hybrid set-top boxes are based on a Broadcom BCM7231 chipset, and offer 3D/HD hybrid IP plus cable, satellite or terrestrial TV, PVR, PLTV, Flash video and graphics, OpenGL 2.0 capabilities and a browser with a customizable UI. Implemented on an all-IP, open standards, and browser-based software stack, the product family features the next-generation user interface, offering twice the speed of the current generation of STBs, according to the company.

Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU)
VDSL2 vector linecard
This is billed as the first VDSL2 linecard for DSLAMs that incorporates vectoring capabilities -- using the G.vector (or G.993.5) standard that reduces copper-pair crosstalk. The linecards (with 48 line ports) can be housed in existing VDSL2 DSLAM chassis and come in two formats: board-level vectoring, with all the capabilities housed on a single linecard; and system-level vectoring that, with the use of a dedicated vectoring processor board, enables the higher-speed capabilities across multiple line cards and nodes. In the latter, up to four line cards (192 ports) will be supported by a single vectoring processor board; this will be doubled to eight linecards (384 ports) in 2012.

Transmode Systems AB
iWDM-PON
The company is extending its current range of DWDM SFP and XFP based optics options for WDM-PON with the introduction of a low-cost injection-locked self-tuning SFP with the required central-office seeding light source and also a low-cost fixed wavelength 1Gbit/s DWDM SFP. According to the company, these new options significantly reduce the cost of WDM optics in access devices and greatly simplify network deployments, removing the need for WDM knowledge when deploying access devices. The use of the C-band within the iWDM-PON solution keeps the access and metro networks on the same standard wavelength grid. This enables wavelengths to go all-optical to any location in the access, metro or core networks as it avoids the need for wavelength conversion as traffic moves from one network to the other. Also capacity can be upgraded on a per-customer basis, without affecting other customers on the network.

It uses VCSEL technology to generate four different optical signals, each modulated at 10G and transmitted over ribbon fiber. The module is can receive this incoming light and reconstruct the 40G data stream to provide a full transceiver solution. It is designed to supports both 40GE and OTU3 protocols.

MEL Inc.
MLT SFP TRx
This low-energy-consumption DWDM SFP transceiver (TRx) reduces energy consumption by holding a tuned wavelength through mechanically locking the wavelength. As a result, the MLT SFP TRx consumes half the power of existing EML-based transceivers and one-third of that of the new tunable transceivers, according to the company. The transceiver can be tuned to a desired wavelength via an electromechanical tuner by typing in a wavelength number on the panel of the tuner. Although the wavelength is mechanically locked to the end of the transceiver's life, if necessary, the wavelength can be retuned to different wavelengths repeatedly to support for any network performance or operational adjustment. It supports data rates to 10Gbit/s, and has a tuning range of 40 wavelengths with 100GHz spacing in C-band or L-band.

NeoPhotonics Corp. (NYSE: NPTN)

MP2100A BERTWave series software
The new software, according to the company, creates a single-instrument solution that cuts the cost of testing active optical cables (AOC) and direct attach cables (DAC) in half. The Jitter Analysis Software can separately measure each type of jitter, such as TJ, DJ, RJ, DDJ and DDPWS, while the Transmission Analysis Software supports analysis of S21 transmission characteristics and waveform simulation. Installing both software packages in the MP2100A adds high-speed post-simulation waveform analysis to the standard BER, eye-pattern and eye-mask measurements of the MP2100A.

The added functionalities are available through a software option for existing FTB/IQS-8120NGE/8130NGE Power Blazer and FTB/IQS-8140 Transport Blazer modules, and require no additional hardware.

Enhancement to FTB-200 and FTB-500 field-testing platforms
This adds one-way delay measurement to the portable Ethernet backhaul test offering. The company says that this is the only portable Ethernet backhaul test unit to perform true one-way delay measurement, using any of the available reference clock. One-way latency measurement enables the accurate validation of delay-sensitive applications such as backhaul synchronization, transactional services or voice-over-IP (VoIP); it also acts as a quality of service (QoS) assurance alternative to traditional round-trip delay measurements, which can often fail to identify performance issues in asymmetrical networks.

Xcellon-Lava
This next-generation higher-speed Ethernet test solution offers two 40/100Gbit/s Ethernet (GE) interfaces in a single-slot configuration, with enhanced capabilities for routing, switching, and application-layer testing. It can handle up to 24 HSE 100GE test ports or up to 48 40GE QSFP+ ports in a single Ixia 12-slot chassis. Each interface card offers two 40/100 GE dual-speed CFP MSA-compatible ports or up to four 40 GE QSFP+ interfaces. It generates linerate traffic to measure routing and switch-forwarding performance, and simulates Internet-scale routing environments. Layer 1 testing is provided through extensive bit-error-rate testing (BERT). The solution also includes test capabilities for PCS-lane technology, and a CXP interface is planned for release in the first quarter of 2012.

XOTN

Yenista Optics SA
OSICS BKR
This variable back-reflector module for OSCIS platform provides a controllable back reflection of up to 55dB over the 1250-1650nm wavelength range. It can be integrated with other test instruments such as light sources, optical switches and variable attenuators as part of the multi-channel OSICS platform. The modules can be controlled either manually or via the GPIB and RS-232 interfaces. The company points out that back reflection or return loss is an intrinsic parameter in all optical systems that occurs as a result of Rayleigh scattering in optical fibers and the mismatch of refractive indices within optical components. Poor or open connectors are also significant contributors. Managing return loss and testing components and systems under a range of operating conditions is an important part of system design and validation.

Nokia Networks
Liquid Net
This wireless broadband solution builds on the company’s earlier Liquid Radio architecture. It adds Liquid Core and Liquid Transport functionality to the network, and these can be implemented either separately in multi-vendor environments or in concert across an operator’s entire network. It allows an operator to set up its network to self-adapt to meet capacity and coverage requirements based on demand. The new approach also aims to improve the quality of broadband services worldwide. It frees unused capacity and allocates it instantly across the whole network wherever and whenever it is needed, the company says, and uses automated, self-adapting broadband optimization to deliver services and content to ensure the best customer experience by always being aware of the network’s operational status and the services being consumed. In addition, it channels traffic in the transport network along the path of lowest cost between operator sites.
