Cisco Live Photos: Dress for Success in a Company Onesie
Warning: pork contains pork.
The technology was hot but the temperatures were hotter in Las Vegas for the recent Cisco Live 2017 conference.
A few days before the conference began, the city tied its record for the highest temperature ever recorded and it barely cooled down for the conference.
Fortunately, air conditioning is a thing and the only times I had to go outside were the brief trips from airport to taxi to hotel and back again.
While not researching and writing articles, I looked around the conference and abused Twitter. Here's some of what I saw and what I had to say about it.
Figure 1: The company store on the show floor sold logo gear, including shirts, jackets, hats -- and this baby onesie. On seeing it, I died from the cute.
Heard they had beer at #CLUS. This is not beer. pic.twitter.com/6I8gL29riD

Figure 2: Here I am visiting the Eaton Power Management booth, with a Game of Thrones theme. The throne is made of power supply components.
Figure 4: Shmoozing at a press reception in a posh hotel lounge.
Figure 5: The floor is smart "kinetic" tiles that draws power from people walking on it, to electrify schools in Nepal.

Figure 6: Lunch in the press room. I was shocked to find out the pork contained pork.
If you see lots of negative articles about @Cisco in near future, it's because they keep letting coffeepot in press room run out. #CLUS

More: Childish, Smutty T-Shirts
Figure 7: T-shirt for sale in the mall outside the conference hotel. I took photos of several other T-shirts. The humor is childish and smutty. Don't look at the photos here.
Figure 8: Milk chocolate candy bar, flavored with bacon-flavored bits and potato chips. You would not think that would be delicious. You would be wrong.
Figure 9: Jody Lemoine, an independent contractor at networking solutions provider Tishco Networks, participates in #KiltedMonday, a Cisco Live tradition where some attendees wear kilts on Monday. Lemoine shared some thoughts about Cisco's newly announced "network intuitive" strategy.
Figure 10: Cisco does a great job with the rock concert effects at its keynotes. Here we're waiting for CEO Chuck Robbins to take the stage.
Playlist for the warmup to every tech industry keynote ever: You Shook Me All Night Long, Uptown Funk, Party Like It's 1999...? #CLUS

Figure 11: Temperatures in Las Vegas in the summer are crazy.
Figure 12: You know what's great about the Internet of Things? Model trains layouts at trade show booths. This one is at the Tech Data booth touting D Smart IoT Solutions.
Figure 13: Another arty photo from my hotel window. Same view, pretty animated GIF.
But it wasn't all onesies and kilts. A colleague and I got to talk with Cisco executives and customers to find out about the company's current and future state. Here's what we wrote:
