CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- Evolution Digital today announced that the company has signed a certified guide renewal agreement with TiVo to deploy eGUIDE, a newly-designed interactive program guide (IPG). eGUIDE, powered by TiVo Metadata, will feature rich graphics and a navigation scheme designed similarly to TiVo’s current i-Guide. The new solution provides cable operators in the United States and Canada with an IP-capable alternative to easily migrate legacy set-top boxes using i-Guide.

eGUIDE is available on Evolution Digital’s IP Hybrid eBOX, which can be configured to support all-IP video including live linear channels, IP video on demand, network DVR and catch-up TV. eGUIDE features a 16:9 HD format, rich graphics as well as navigational features similar to iGuide. eGUIDE is enabled by TiVo’s enhanced metadata services, which helps users easily find their favorite TV shows and movies, as well as discover new content across various channels.

“Evolution Digital joined forces with TiVo to further our mission of offering low-cost solutions for cable operators seeking to transition to IP video distribution,” said Brent Smith, president and chief technology officer at Evolution Digital. “With eGUIDE, operators can easily upgrade customers with legacy set-top boxes and begin offering advanced IP video features, like Video on Demand, while minimizing user confusion by providing a familiar navigation scheme and remote control. It is a win-win for operators and for consumers.”

“TiVo’s long-standing collaboration with Evolution Digital has brought solutions to market that span an ever-evolving entertainment landscape with the purpose of connecting users to their favorite content,” said Michael Hawkey, senior vice president and general manager at TiVo. “Evolution Digital’s eGUIDE complements TiVo’s line up of hybrid and full IPTV solutions, which can be customized with advanced features, like support for over-the-top services, to the broad spectrum of our customers’ entertainment discovery needs.”

The initial version of eGUIDE includes access to Evolution Digital’s eVUE-TV IP video platform. eGUIDE can also support targeted, interactive advertising capabilities to enable higher ad revenue.

Understanding the full experience of women in technology requires starting at the collegiate level (or sooner) and studying the technologies women are involved with, company cultures they're part of and personal experiences of individuals.

During this WiC radio show, we will talk with Nicole Engelbert, the director of Research & Analysis for Ovum Technology and a 23-year telecom industry veteran, about her experiences and perspectives on women in tech. Engelbert covers infrastructure, applications and industries for Ovum, but she is also involved in the research firm's higher education team and has helped colleges and universities globally leverage technology as a strategy for improving recruitment, retention and graduation performance.

She will share her unique insight into the collegiate level, where women pursuing engineering and STEM-related degrees is dwindling. Engelbert will also reveal new, original Ovum research on the topics of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, security and augmented reality, as well as discuss what each of those technologies might mean for women in our field. As always, we'll also leave plenty of time to answer all your questions live on the air and chat board.
