Netflix Throttles Video Streaming Settings

Streaming video moves lead today's cable news roundup.

  • To help subs avoid breaking bandwidth caps imposed by broadband ISPs, Netflix Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) is letting U.S. customers adjust their bit rate and video streaming quality settings -- something it's already doing in Canada.   • Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE: TWC) and Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA) are attempting to settle their dispute over rights to distribute live programming to Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL)'s iPad, filing a "standstill" agreement with a New York court that puts the case on hold. (See TW Cable, Viacom Take iPad Fight to Court .)

  • Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) plans to resume the rollout of its latest FiOS TV Interactive Media Guide, and could have it deployed across the board within a few months.
