Orascom Launches N. Korea 3G

Koryolink is the first 3G mobile network to operate in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

PYONGYANG, N. Korea -- Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH)celebrates today the inauguration of Koryolink, the latest addition to thesuccessful list of OTH subsidiaries. Koryolink is the first 3G mobile network tooperate in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (“DPRK”) and isestablished as a joint venture between OTH (75%) and Korea Posts andTelecomm Corp. (KPTC) (25%).

OTH was awarded the license to establish a 3G mobile network in DPRK inJanuary 2008. Koryolink has deployed its 3G network to initially coverPyongyang, which has a population of more than 2 million, with an ambitiousplan to expand its coverage to the entire country.Koryolink will deliver world-class voice and data communication services tothe people of the DPRK.
