Sprint says it will hire 2,500 military veterans during the next five years as part of the White Houses' Joining Forces initiative.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Sprint (NYSE: S), a company widely recognized for its commitment to hiring military veterans and their families, today announced that it plans to hire 2,500 military veterans during the next five years as part of Joining Forces, a White House initiative aimed at expanding employment and career development opportunities for veterans and military spouses. Sprint is one of more than 50 leading U.S. telecommunications and technology organizations that pledged to hire a combined 100,000 veterans or military spouses by the end of 2021.

“We owe a tremendous amount of respect and gratitude to the brave men and women who serve our country,” said Sandy Price, senior vice president of Human Resources at Sprint. “Veterans have valuable and unique skills which strengthen our workforce. It is important that we provide rewarding professional opportunities, and a supportive work environment, for veterans and their spouses and partners.”

Sprint’s military recruitment program focuses on hiring veterans, members of the Reserve and National Guard, as well as active members in the military and their spouses or other family members. Additionally, Sprint assists veterans in their transition to the civilian workforce through the VETS (Veterans and Employees helping others Through Sprint) employee resource group (ERG). The VETS ERG provides professional development and mentoring opportunities and has more than 800 members nationwide.

Sprint has received numerous accolades for supporting and hiring military veterans and their families, including being named a “Top 50 Military-Friendly Employer” by G.I. Jobs magazine for the last 10 consecutive years. Sprint has also been recognized as a Most Valuable Employer for Military by CivilianJobs.com for the past seven years.
