Light Reading Leading Lights Awards Entry Form

In 2004, Light Reading established an important annual industry awards program, through which top public and private companies and their executives are recognized for their outstanding achievements in the communications industry: the Leading Lights Awards.

This year, we're doing it again - and, again, we've added a few twists.

Twist #1: We will no longer will we have separate awards for public and private companies in the categories of Best Marketing, Best New Product, and Best New Service. All companies will compete for a single award in each of these categories. Let the fun begin!

Twist #2: Gone is the award for Best M&A Strategy (Public Company). Replacing it is a more broadly-defined award with a cooler name: Best Deal Maker. This award will serve to recognize public companies that have built their businesses in the past year in creative ways, via mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investments, etc. If your public company has extended its reach by doing interesting deals, you're eligible.

Twist #3: We have a new award for private companies: Best New Startup. This award will be handed to a company started on or after January 1, 2007, that appears to hold the most promise for helping service providers on their path to building and operating next-generation networks. So-called "stealth-mode" companies are welcome, but you may not take home the cheese if we can't say what it is you do.

That enough twists for ya? We hope so. We also hope you're racking your brain to think of this year's Person of the Year. That award returns for a second year, and, just as before, we'll let the readers help us decide which of the industry's top execs deserve individual recognition for their hard work, technical prowess, or ability to lead companies through challenging times.

The awards categories and judging criteria have been developed based on our publication's eight years of experience analyzing telecommunications, plus feedback from our Heavy Reading analysts, industry sources, and conversations with top service providers.

To enter the awards competition, please fill out the form below and submit your entry!

The Leading Lights Awards Dinner will take place on October 20, 2008. The deadline for entries is September 19, 2008.
