These mobile operators include Hong Kong CSL Ltd, SingTel in Singapore and Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan. The agreement, which follows successful carrier trials of the MSN Hotmail SMS service in both Chinese and English in the region, will present the three mobile operators additional sources of revenues and render more competitive and compelling mobile services to their subscribers, thereby increasing loyalty.“The introduction of e-mail access via SMS will benefit mobile operators by lowering the cost of entering an increasingly competitive global market as no further investment in hardware or software is required.
