A Good Day to Stay in Bed

5:30 PM -- August 9th has been pretty much a day of disasters.

On this day in 1945, we dropped the big one on Nagasaki, for no particular reason I've ever heard.

In 1969, the Manson Family murdered Sharon Tate and friends, ditto.

And in 1974, President Richard Nixon resigned from office, for a whole host of reasons.

That last, now I think of it, may not really qualify as a disaster. It did pave the way for the Betty Ford Clinic.
