China Mobile Tianjin and Huawei Commercialize IntelligentRAN 5GtoB Suite for Stable Service Operation at Tianjin Port

China Mobile Tianjin and Huawei have commercially deployed the IntelligentRAN 5GtoB Suite device-network intelligent O&M solution on private networks at Tianjin Port in January 2023. The 5GtoB Suite allows for the stable running of private 5G RAN at Tianjin Port, and replaces the manual O&M method previously used by China Mobile Tianjin, reducing operation costs while boosting operating efficiency by 70%. The solution also allows for wireless single-domain autonomy and is closely integrated with the 5G private network deterministic service assurance solution AUTIN, to provide China Mobile's E2E A10 service assurance and facilitate the rapid expansion of 5G private network services by China Mobile Tianjin.

Tianjin Port Section C Terminal is a milestone smart port project (from 2021 to 2025), and will become a new benchmark for container terminals at the port. As one of China's 5G pioneers, China Mobile Tianjin has consistently explored new industry applications. In 2022, China Mobile Tianjin, Tianjin Port, and Huawei built 5G private networks designed for the myriad of smart port applications, which encompass diverse infrastructure, including gantry cranes, container yards, trucks, ships, and cargo, as well as differing Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements, such as high bandwidth and low latency, posing higher requirements on O&M assurance. The 5GtoB Suite solution jointly developed by China Mobile Tianjin and Huawei implements remote real-time service monitoring and automatic fault detection and diagnosis to support the seamless online operation of smart port services. This solution includes three key capabilities:

Multi-dimensional, second-level KPI monitoring: Identifies the wide range of services at ports, based on device locations, allowing KPIs at the device, cell, and slice levels to be monitored in real time down to the second, for industry-leading performance.

Minute-level high-precision fault diagnosis: Identifies performance fluctuations of industrial devices proactively, and applies adaptive algorithms and collaborative device-network analysis to self-diagnose root causes of device and network faults in a matter of minutes. The fault detection to root cause locating process has been shortened from 2 to 4 hours to 15 minutes, with an increase in accuracy from 50% to 90%, which helps maintenance personnel efficiently handle network faults.

Service SLA-based experience assurance: Provides differentiated experience assurance for O&M by identifying the SLA requirements for different service types with an accuracy of more than 90% based on flow-level data entropy mining technology.

The 5GtoB Suite intelligent device-network O&M solution represents a milestone in the 5G smart port sector, and allows Tianjin Port to benefit from seamless 5G private network-based services. Starting in 2020, China Mobile Tianjin and Huawei have launched a number of key 5GtoB technologies tailored toward the steel, port, and manufacturing industries to help customers improve operating efficiency through digitalization. "We've now achieved dedicated network resources based on 5G port private networks, which allows us to connect industrial devices at ports and provide a seamless level of service," said Yang Tong, General Manager of Wireless Center at China Mobile Tianjin. "As 5G is widely deployed across industries, we will continue to build scenario-specific solutions based on 5GtoB high-quality networks with the aim to address customer needs while facilitating the intelligent transformation of various industries."
