CAMBRIDGE, U.K. -- ip.access ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of TTP Communications Plc (LSE:TTC), today announces that it has been selected by Shin Satellite, one of Asia's leading satellite operators, to deliver cost-effective GSM coverage and capacity via satellite to rural and remote areas across the Asia-Pacific region. ip.access’ nanoGSM™ solution will use the new IPSTAR satellite system for backhauling IP traffic to nanoBTS™ basestations.

The standalone solution was successfully demonstrated to Advanced Info Service (AIS), the leading Thai GSM operator, by Intex Systems Pte Ltd, a distributor for ip.access. The demonstration proves that nanoGSM™ with satellite backhaul is a viable option for operators in other Asia-Pacific countries.

“nanoGSM™ is the natural choice for delivering enhanced GSM coverage and capacity via our satellite system,” commented Thanapong Naranong, Product Marketing Director, Shin Satellite. “Providing IP backhaul via our satellite enables operators to efficiently address the needs of remote rural communities.”

“By integrating nanoGSM into the AIS network, we have once again assisted ip.access in expanding the reach of nanoGSM™ globally, while demonstrating further our regional delivery and support capability,” said Erich Paulini, Managing Director of Intex Systems.

Sim Cher Fong, VP Asia Pacific, ip.access added, “We are delighted that IPSTAR is delivering the benefits of our solution to new operators and business customers. We offer a range of installation options to suit every purpose: with satellite backhaul, our solution allows businesses all over the world to benefit from GSM access, regardless of their location.”
