LONDON -- Operax, the QoS control company, today announced its successful participation in the MultiService Forum’s GMI 2006 Interoperability trial. Operax follows up leadership in QoS control by demonstrating Operax Bandwidth Manager 5500 which provides real-time Resource and Admission Control functionality.

GMI 2006 brings together top carriers BT/Vodafone, KT, NTT and Verizon, University of New Hampshire and dozens of vendors to test the interoperability of IMS-based infrastructure components in a real-world setting. GMI 2006 provides tangible proof of multi-vendor interoperability for carrier class, QoS enabled, end-to-end voice and multimedia services originating and terminating on fixed and mobile IMS networks, using MSF Release 3 Implementation Agreements.

Operax successfully participated in the scenario for QoS control, testing and validating its functionality together with other vendors. The interoperability is based on the Diameter protocol with extensions aligned with 3GPP Gq and ETSI TISPAN Gq´ interfaces.

“End-to-end service management and QoS Control will allow Tier-1 carriers secure a return on the investment they are making in next-generation networks regardless of the technology adopted”, said Chris Merrick, Chief Marketing Officer, Operax. "Operax has pursued a standards-based approach where ease of integration and carrier-grade interoperability with premier platform providers has been the goal.”

The Operax Bandwidth Manager 5500 is a carrier-grade QoS Control system for multi-technology broadband networks, from access through aggregation to the network edge and caters for solutions where awareness of subscriber attachments to the network is required. The Operax Bandwidth Manager 5700 is a carrier-grade QoS Control system for IP/MPLS networks with no awareness of end-users. Used either alone or in combination, these products support a range of solutions including fixed line IMS, PSTN emulation, IPTV, broadband data services and 3GPP R4 Bearer Independent Core Network.
