IBM pushes watsonx's AI smarts into telecom
Watsonx is the new generative AI service from tech giant IBM. Stephen Rose, the company's GM for the global telco industry, spoke with Light Reading about how it might be used by telecom network operators.
LAS VEGAS – MWC23 – Stephen Rose is shopping a new tool to IBM's telecom customers. "There are a number of different areas where you're able to use generative AI," he said on the sidelines of the recent MWC Vegas trade show.
IBM earlier this year took the wraps off watsonx, the company's new AI platform "that will enable enterprises to scale and accelerate the impact of the most advanced AI with trusted data."
Rose, IBM's GM for the global telco industry, is now talking up the product among his customer base. "It's a new paradigm," he said, explaining that generative AI can have implications across virtually all of a telecom network operator's business units, from networking to customer care.
Rose, a former Nokia executive, joined IBM last year. At MWC Vegas, Rose spoke with Light Reading about the company's efforts to insert generative AI into the telecom industry.
