Ericsson Wins 3G in Taiwan

Ericsson delivers seamless 2G/3G WCDMA network to Far EasTone and Yuan-Ze in Taiwan

STOCKHOLM -- Taiwan operator Far EasTone Telecommunications has selected Ericsson as sole supplier for a seamless, island-wide 2G/3G system. Ericsson will expand and upgrade the present 2G-system, delivering a fully integrated GSM-GPRS-WCDMA solution that ensures all Far EasTone's customers a seamless evolution from 2G to 3G.The 3G agreement with Far EasTone comprises a complete 3G system including WCDMA radio access network, core network and a wide portfolio of comprehensive professional services for Yuan-Ze Telecommunications, subsidiary of Far EasTone.Implementation of the WCDMA-system will start immediately and will be managed by Ericsson on a turnkey basis. In addition, the two companies have also signed a framework agreement for the expansion of Far EasTone´s present GSM network and associated services."Ericsson has worked with FET as a network infrastructure supplier since we first launched our GSM mobile network in January 1998.
