SHENZHEN, China -- ZTE Corporation (Shenzhen: 000063, Hong Kong: 0763), China’s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider, today announced a further breakthrough in the European market with a new ADSL contract with OTE, Greece’s largest fixed-line operator.

Under the contract, ZTE is to expand the Athens ADSL network it provided to OTE last year, bringing broadband services to a total 10,000 subscribers. The first shipment is to arrive later this month and the network will be put into use after the installation finishes at the end of June.

“Greece is geographically, economically and politically important to ZTE and we are very proud to have the opportunity to work with OTE again to bring more local customers high-quality broadband access services,” said Guo Jun, general manager of ZTE Europe. “OTE is very pleased with the high quality and good service of the networks that ZTE has already provided and this is reflected in our continued co-operation.”

“We plan to build on our success in Greece and the surrounding area with a technical support centre to serve our customers here and in the surrounding Balkan region.”

The new contract win follows ZTE’s success with OTE last year when the Corporation supplied a DSL network to serve the Olympic Games, which performed throughout the Games with no problems or downtime. Since then, ZTE has expanded the network to the rest of Athens.
