Yafo Demos 40-Gig PMD Compensator

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Yafo Networks demonstrated the world's first 40 Gigabit per second (Gbps) polarization mode dispersion (PMD) compensator at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) conference today in Anaheim. The demonstration involved sending live 40Gbps traffic in Yafo's labs. The Yafo 40Gbps compensator mitigated PMD to enable error-free delivery of the 40Gbps signal.

"This demonstration shows that Yafo's solution to the PMD problem works well at 40Gbps, and will be a key enabler for the move to next-generation, higher-speed networks," said Yafo chairman Dr. Henry Yaffe. "40 gig networks will not work in the real world unless the system can 'clean up the bits' in the optical domain, and this demo proves the Yafo solution does that," Yaffe added.
