Tira Wireless appoints Paul Schaut, recently president and CEO of Performaworks, as its CEO; interim CEO and founder Tony Davis will remain on the board

TORONTO -- Tira Wireless, a provider of enabling technology for the mobile Java™ marketplace, today announced the appointment of Paul Schaut as Chief Executive Officer. Schaut takes over this role from Tira’s interim CEO and co-founder, Tony Davis, who will remain on the board of directors.

Schaut has 22 years of technology experience, and has held executive and management positions in a variety of sales, marketing and general management capacities. Most recently, Schaut was President and CEO of Performaworks, a performance management software company acquired by Workscape in March 2004. Prior to Performaworks, Schaut was President and CEO of Engage, Inc. Under his direction, this interactive marketing company grew from 40 employees and $100K in revenue to more than $200M in revenue and 1,800 employees. He also led the company through the integration of 10 acquisitions, worldwide expansion, private fund raising and a successful initial public offering. Recognized for his leadership, Schaut was named to Upside Magazine’s list of ‘Elite 100’ executives in 2000.
