Cannes Film Festival unwires with Netopia WiFi hotspots
May 16, 2005
PARIS -- Netopia, Inc. (NTPA.PK), a market leader in broadband and service delivery software, today announced it is delivering high-speed wireless Internet access during the 58th Cannes Film Festival through two prestigious hotels bordering the Croisette. These Wi-Fi Hot Spots will facilitate the work of journalists, production companies and film distributors attending the Cannes Festival and the International Film Market.
Implemented by SDI, a VAR located in the Nice area and a longtime Netopia partner, Netopia's Hot Spots will be available for the duration of the Cannes Festival and the International Film Market. Through the Netopia Wi-Fi Hot Spots, journalists and film professionals may freely and easily connect to the Internet for filing reports, e-mail access and to share professional data through the Web.
"We had to select a high-performance solution that could be rapidly deployed," said Franck Salvietti, SDI Director. "By equipping these hotels with Netopia Hot Spots, we are able to offer dependable Wi-Fi coverage that will be used by several hundred people every day."
"We are excited to provide high-speed wireless Internet access for such an acclaimed event," said Jeff Porter, vice president of product marketing for Netopia. "Our Wi-Fi Hot Spots will enable journalists and film professionals to provide real-time information about the festival. The use of Netopia's Hot Spots at the Cannes Festival is truly a validation of the reliability and ease-of-use of our solution."
