BARCELONA -- As the WiMAX standard gains momentum around the world, communications processors from Freescale Semiconductor are driving the rapid deployment of cost-effective WiMAX customer premises equipment (CPE) products and base station installations.

Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX: VCM), a leading supplier of data, digital video and broadband wireless telecom products, uses Freescale’s MPC8248 PowerQUICC™ II processor for its new OSR3500 WiMAX CPE offering. Additionally, the Freescale MPC8541 PowerQUICC III device powers the Vecima VistaMAX OPC3500 and OBR3500 base station models.
