CHICAGO -- DesignArt Networks (DAN), a fablesssemiconductor company, unveils the DAN2200 WiMAX femtocell SoC at WiMAXWorld 2008. The industry’s only complete single-chip femtocell SoC, the DAN2200allows equipment vendors to shatter the unit price barrier of $100. Complete femtocelldesigns consume less than 5W of total power, while providing plenty of spare processingpower to run embedded high-capacity networking and media streaming applications; theycan easily be integrated with home gateway equipment to facilitate the delivery of highdefinitionmedia to fixed and mobile wireless broadband devices. This results in fasteradoption of WiMAX femtocells in residential, business, and hot-spot applications.

“The $100 price point has been an elusive target for femtocell vendors, inhibiting mobileoperators to effectively implement subsidized business models to serve the demand forindoor wireless broadband coverage,” said Adlane Fellah, CEO and Founder, Maravedis. The DesignArt SoC platform integrates several application CPUs, a network processor, and robust synchronization options, thus eliminating costly components required forFemtocell and Home Gateway applications. “The resulting low design costs couldaccelerate deployment of affordable femtocells into small businesses and residentialhomes alike,” added Fellah.
