What the $500B Stargate AI plan could mean for telecom
The flood of investment into AI data centers powered by Nvidia chips could have major implications for 5G silicon developers.
Antietam Broadband has widened its launch of Flight Mobile, a service rooted to the NCTC's pacts with AT&T and Reach. Schurz, Antietam's parent, plans to bring Flight Mobile to its full stable of operator brands.
Antietam Broadband, an operator that's part of Schurz Communications, has extended the reach of its new Flight Mobile service to Hagerstown, Maryland.
Antietam Broadband, which serves Washington County in Maryland, is the first brand in the Schurz stable to launch a mobile service based on the National Content & Technology Cooperative's (NCTC's) MVNO and MVNE pacts with AT&T and Reach.
Flight Mobile is getting off the ground with a pair of by-the-gig and unlimited plans that must be paired with Antietam's home broadband service:
Flight Essential: 3 Gigabytes for $20 per month per line
Flight Essential Plus: 5GB of data for $25 per month per line
Flight Premier: $29.99 per month per line. The service is billed as unlimited, though speeds are reduced when customers exceed 20GB of data in a month
Flight Premier Plus: $39.99 per month, with speeds reduced when customers consume up to 30GB in a month's period
Schurz has stood up an online device store for Flight Mobile that is initially selling a mix of iOS and Android models, including several Samsung Galaxy models, Apple's iPhone 15, and Google Pixel, Motorola and TCL units. NCTC has agreements with a pair of mobile device partners – the Associated Carrier Group (ACG) and Vertex Wireless.
Antietam Broadband's expansion into Carroll County, Maryland, will include the availability of Flight Mobile.
Schurz has plans to bring Flight Mobile to its other properties and brands, but it has yet to provide any specific timing. Other Schurz-operated service providers that will eventually get Flight Mobile include Burlington Telecom (Burlington, Vermont); Hiawatha Broadband (Winona, Minnesota); Long Lines Broadband (Sergeant Bluff, Iowa); NKTelco (New Knoxville, Ohio); and Orbitel Communications (Maricopa, Arizona).
Schurz is part of an initial batch of NCTC members to take advantage of the co-op's partnerships with AT&T and Reach. Other NCTC members that have launched or plan to launch mobile include Allo Communications, Breezeline, TDS Telecom and TVS Cable. Ritter Communications and Midco have expressed interest in launching mobile services via the NCTC agreements.
