KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Green Packet Berhad (Green Packet) via its wholly-owned subsidiary, Green Packet Shanghai Limited, has entered into a partnership agreement today with one of the largest telecommunications giants in China and the second largest in China Telecom’s stable, Zhejiang Telecom Company Limited (Zhejiang Telecom), on a synergistic collaboration to promote the total solution of “Wireless E-communication” in the Zhejiang province.

Under the collaboration, Zhejiang Telecom will leverage on Green Packet’s Unified Mobility Solution, which is hosted by its SONaccess Home Agent Servers and Foreign Agent Servers, to integrate the Personal Handyphone System (PHS) wireless data and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) networks for the deployment of broadband wireless networks throughout the Zhejiang province.

To further promote and proliferate the subscription for wireless broadband adoption for Zhejiang Telecom, Green Packet has collaborative agreements with notebook manufacturers to launch a notebook bundling programme.

The programme will enable the subscribers of Zhejiang Telecom to easily access the Internet and corporate applications through Green Packet’s seamless connectivity software, namely SONaccess and SONmobile, embedded in the notebooks.

SONaccess and SONmobile, which utilize a “always-on”, “secured”, “seamless roaming” platform, will facilitate roaming across Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), WLAN and PHS networks at broadband speeds irrespective of the location and the underlying network.

Being the only solution provider offering advanced mobile Internet Protocol (“IP”) solution in the Asia region, Green Packet had successfully teamed-up with Guangdong Telecom Company Limited (“Guangdong Telecom”), Jiangsu Telecom Company Limited (“Jiangsu Telecom”) and Sichuan Telecom Company Limited (“Sichuan Telecom”), all within the past year to offer ‘Wireless E-communication’ in the three provinces.

“This latest collaboration with Zhejiang Telecom is another vote of confidence for our products. It is also in alignment with our strategic initiatives to become one of the most prominent mobile solution providers in China,” said Green Packet’s Chief Executive Officer, Puan Chan Cheong.

“With four provinces deploying our products to date, this suggests only a start for the adoption of our products. We are confident that our solutions will attract more attention from other provinces and also other China telecommunication carriers”, he added.
