IRVINE, Calif. -- SMC Networks (www.smc.com) announced today that the newest in its line of wireless networking products that comply with 802.11n draft v2.0 for wireless networking are shipping and available. Bringing the speed, distance and bandwidth advantages of 802.11n, along with backwards compatibility with 802.11b/g wireless and features that optimize performance, the new SMC Barricade™ N Wireless 4-port Gigabit Broadband Router (SMCWGBR14-N), the EZ™ Connect N Wireless Access Point/Ethernet Client (SMCWEB-N) and the EZ Connect N Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (SMCWUSB-N) are all available now, at MSRPs of $174.99, $114.99 and $62.99.

Designed to excel in demanding applications like gaming, high-definition video streaming, file sharing and VoIP, the newest additions to SMC Networks’ family of draft 802.11n wireless networking products are capable of achieving data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps—almost 6 times the rate of 802.11g— and provide extended wireless coverage.

The SMC Barricade™ N Wireless 4-port Gigabit Broadband Router (SMCWGBR14-N) is an ideal all-in-one networking solution for connecting wired or 802.11b, g, or n wireless devices to high-speed cable or xDSL. Designed with ultra high-performance for online gaming, P2P downloading, VoIP and Video streaming, the SMCWGBR14-N manages demanding applications smoothly and seamlessly. It optimizes network performance with draft 11n wireless, Gigabit connectivity, and built-in Intelligent Stream Handling technology that automatically manages and prioritizes the flow of time-sensitive data in the local network and going to the Internet, without the need for end-user configuration. As a result, time-sensitive applications like online gaming and video streaming run smoothly without lag or breakup problems. With security being a key consideration in all network environments, the SMCWGBR14-N supports the latest WPA and WPA2 wireless encryption standards, to prevent unauthorized access to wireless networks and ensure that data is secure. Wireless security can also be set up easily using Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) that enables push button or PIN configuration. The SMCWGBR14-N also includes a firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), a USB2.0 multi-function print server and has an easy to use Web-based management interface.

The SMC EZ Connect™ N Draft 802.11n Wireless Access Point/Ethernet Client (SMCWEB-N) is a multi-function device that can operate in either Access Point or Ethernet Client mode. Incorporating the same advanced performance and wireless security features as the SMCWGBR14-N, the SMCWEB-N is optimized for multimedia applications. It can be used in Access Point mode to add high-speed wireless connectivity to the network or in Client mode to connect multiple Ethernet-enabled devices—game consoles, digital media players or Network Attached Storage devices—simultaneously via an integrated 4-port 10/100 switch. Configuration is made simple and straightforward with an Installation Wizard, Web-based management interface and a slide switch for easily selecting operating mode.

The new EZ Connect N Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (SMCWUSB-N) takes draft 802.11n connections to the desktop or notebook to complete the performance continuum. Connected to a network anchored by an SMC Barricade N Wireless 4-port Gigabit Broadband Router (SMCWGBR14-N) or other SMC 802.11n draft router, these USB adapters bring wireless connectivity to desktop and notebook computers for fast connections and great coverage, with the same enterprise-class security provided by the rest of SMC’s 802.11n-draft wireless networking family.

“Online gaming, video streaming, VoIP and NAS are all highly-demanding applications,” said James Harris, SMC Networks Product Manager. “As adoption of these applications continues to accelerate, so does demand for higher bandwidth. Our new multimedia products combine the necessary 802.11n draft v2.0 standard, Intelligent Stream Handling Technology, and Gigabit connectivity that these applications demand. Rounding out the product line further demonstrates SMC’s commitment to delivering high-performance products that work in real networks.”
