(Nasdaq: NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today announced that its MiFi 2 builds on Novatel Wireless' extensive portfolio of MiFi related patents. On September 27th, 2012, Novatel Wireless announced its MiFi 2 next generation device built on proven, award-winning technology in an all- new, highly innovative design filled with unique capabilities and performance. The MiFi 2 is the first intelligent mobile hotspot with a touchscreen display and the most feature rich mobile hotspot in the market today with breakthrough MiFi user experience ‹ all built on Novatel Wireless' pioneering MiFi technologies and performance specifications.

Novatel Wireless' MiFi patent portfolio covers a wide range of intellectual property rights centered on simplicity of the user experience, device intelligence and connectivity and innovative industrial design. These include key elements of the MiFi user experience, such as automatically establishing a data connection with the push of a power button. They also cover core MiFi technology, such as multi-mode functionality of modems ‹ a patent Novatel Wireless announced in July 2012 focused on wide- area and local area gateway operation. This patent covers wireless gateway implementation in mobile hotspots, home automation gateways, fixed mobile convergence routers and general machine-to-machine solutions.
