WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Xirrus, Inc., the only provider of high-performance, long-range Wi-Fi products, and Wireless Events Ltd. announced today successful Wi-Fi network deployments at several music and arts festivals across the United Kingdom providing voice and data services throughout the venue for the artists, production staff, merchants and attendees. These include the Glastonbury Festival, Latitude, The Big Chill, Rise and many others. Deployments are also planned at Leeds and Reading Carling festivals and the V2008 Music Festivals in Chelmsford and Weston Park. These festivals represent some of the largest outdoor music festivals in the world attracting more than 175,000 attendees at Glastonbury alone.

Designed by Wireless Events Ltd., the site-wide campus networks provide both indoor and outdoor Internet access and telephony services utilizing Quality of Service (QoS) features supporting thousands of users throughout the event. The sites at Glastonbury and others are transformed into large, self-contained towns during the course of these events where telephony and Internet access services are critical. Wireless Events Ltd. selected Xirrus for the critical Wi-Fi infrastructure because they were the only solution that could be quickly configured and deployed to provide long range coverage while offering multiple, integrated resiliency features to supply reliable Wi-Fi connectivity in a variety of changing weather conditions that included significant rainfall.

“The Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays performed well within our network providing reliable coverage and capacity for all the different groups utilizing it,” said Chris Beale, managing director of Wireless Events Ltd. “We integrated voice and data services across our telecommunications network from a variety of networking equipment makers. Xirrus was the only Wi-Fi solution which reduced our deployment overhead.”
